I grew up in the Midwest, so to me it is funny to be raising California kids. I put this gift together for the son of a friend who is also a Midwesterner turned Californian. This gift would be good for any kid living in or even visiting California! While it is still cold in many parts of the country, we are having some warm 80 degree days here, so a sand bucket it always useful for beach or sand box play. It also becomes a fun delivery method for the rest of the gift. I picked this bucket up at Target. Inside the bucket I've included the book Good Night California and a California t-shirt. The book takes you through many aspects of California including Hollywood, Silicon Valley, Farmer's Markets, Lake Tahoe, the mountains, redwood trees, and more. If you want to be more specific to a region, there are also the books Good Night Los Angeles, Good Night San Francisco, and Good Night San Diego. Also included in this gift idea is a California Tee by Maptote that has lots of little drawings and icons of California for a kid to look at. These toddler t-shirts comes in size 2, 4 or 6 and are available in either red or navy blue. Unfortunately Maptote doesn't carry an Illinois or Chicago kid's shirt, but stay tuned for another gift recommendation that will have something for my Midwestern readers!
