This is going to become another of my favorite gifts! It is fun, encourages creativity, is a little unexpected, and not too expensive. I can also order all the elements online so I don't have to navigate through a store with the kids! I gave the Ed Emberley's Complete Funprint Drawing Book to my six year old niece along with this multi-colored ink pad and a pad of paper. I had a similar book to this when I was a little girl, but it only had drawings that used a black ink pad. With lots of characters and color, this book is definitely an improvement! It shows step by step how to create cute characters and animals with your fingerprints and a pen. I love that the ink pad looks more special than most with a fun shape to it. I gave the ink pad with primary colors, but there are other colors, like pastels, available. The ink pad provides a rich thick color, almost like paint, and we had no problem washing it off our hands. I also loved that my niece started using it immediately after opening it. She started by following the guides in the book, but once she got the hang of it, she made her own drawings that were beyond the book's recommendations. I thought this little colorful clown she created was great; she discovered that if she put her finger in the center of the ink pad she could make a fingerprint with all of the colors! My three year old also tried to join in, but it was a little tricky for him, instead he liked just making a bunch of colorful fingerprints all over the paper. This gift would be best for kids ages five through nine. See the links for where to purchase all the elements needed for this color-fun gift!
