My son loves scratching off those little metallic scratch-off stickers like on a lottery ticket. When I saw that you could buy these scratch-offs as a heart-shaped sticker, I knew we had to create a valentine with them. I started with animal drawings because my kids also love animals. And because my kids aren't old enough to read, there had to be a funny image revealed when you scratched off the heart. I thought my son would enjoy seeing the animals eating things that he would like, so each animal gets their own sweet treat. I think the walrus is my favorite...there is a donut on his tooth! My son loves the fox licking the lollipop. And as a bonus, there is one animal valentine that isn't for the kids which says, "You are foxy!" See more images of these Sweet Animal Valentine's below.
As an alternative, there is a balloon graphic that uses three heart-shaped scratch off stickers and has a place to attach a coin. The scratch-off stickers come in a pack of 100, so there are plenty to make a lot of valentines! There are a few versions of the balloon - one that says "Hi, Friend. Happy Valentine's Day," another that says "I Love You," and the last one is blank so you could write whatever you want before you put the stickers on. To make any of these valentines, buy the heart-shaped scratch off stickers, download and print the artwork*, and stick the heart-shaped sticker over the dotted outline of the heart on the drawing. Done! Let your Valentine scratch off to reveal the surprise!
*I recommend when printing the artwork that any option that says "Fit to Page" is unchecked. It is best to print the page full scale because the heart outline is tailored to the sticker size.
